Weekend Devotional
“Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;” Isaiah 43:4-6
Where is God in times of war? Where is He when the enemies of peace threaten our lives and livelihood”…When our streets are no longer safe and our homes are not havens, when our children are missing—where is God? It would be interesting to count and record the number of times and the number of ways God says “I am with you” in the Bible. How many times and how many ways does it take to convince us that we are not alone and that God not only watches for our soul, but also cares deeply about those things that truly concern us? Even in the face of war, He offers peace. While civil unrest and battles on foreign soil threaten to scatter and destroy our seed, let us remember the promises of God. Let us remember the character of God and the fact that He instilled in us the ability to speak life in the face of death. When the sorrows of life attempt to render you speechless, find your voice and say what Jesus said: “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39).
