Community Baptism

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Community Service

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42-47 (ESV)

Baptism is the visual practice of recognizing someone who has decided to follow Jesus Christ. By being baptized, we are announcing that we are choosing to leave our former way of living and enter a new life with God. The purpose of the Community Baptism is to celebrate our spiritual conversion, and it is a visible symbol of our “initiation” into God’s family, where we all stand on an even plane as brothers and sisters and function as a biblical community. We need each other every step of the way because living this Christian life can be challenging while at the same time, be rewarding. It is important to take part in Community Baptism because it is a significant step in our relationship with God and with other believers as well as an opportunity to fellowship and to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
