Condition of the Soil

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Sharing Our Faith

“And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up.” Matthew 13:4

When witnessing to others about the love of Jesus, make sure you identify their heart condition.  A wise farmer always tests the soil before he plants his seeds, and we should do the same.  There will be people who will reject your attempts to share the good news of Jesus Christ.  Do not allow these rejections to discourage you.  All soil conditions are not conducive for planting, and neither are all heart conditions.  Our job is to share and sow the message of Jesus Christ, but it is God’s responsibility to give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).  People rejected Jesus, and they will also reject you, but like Jesus, we must be about our Father’s business.  When we, through the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, identify individuals with an open heart, we must seize the opportunity to share the Gospel.  Release those individuals that stubbornly refuse to hear the message, and focus on the ones who are hungry to receive the Word of God.  We can never control the outcome of our witnessing experiences.  Jesus witnessed to the rich, young ruler and he went away sorrowful (Matthew 19:22), but when Jesus witnessed to the woman at the well, she spread the message through her entire city (John 4:29).  Do not allow personal appearance or personal status to deter you from sharing the love and salvation of Jesus Christ.  God gave His son for the entire world, and we must make sure that the entire world is aware of God’s love for mankind (John 3:16).
