Dealing with Obstacles

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Empowered

“Jesus now called the Twelve and gave them authority and power to deal with all the demons and cure diseases. He commissioned them to preach the news of God’s kingdom and heal the sick. He said, ‘Don’t load yourselves up with equipment. Keep it simple; you are the equipment. And no luxury inns—get a modest place and be content there until you leave. If you’re not welcomed, leave town. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and move on.’” Luke 9:1-5 (MSG)

When we hear the word “empowered,” we may feel strong as if nothing can stop us. Nevertheless, the true test of being “empowered” comes when we face life’s challenges. Some of these obstacles may include the loss of loved ones, health challenges, a breakup, or a divorce. To appropriately react to and deal with these challenges, we have to have Jesus Christ as Savior and as a friend; we should look to Him for help. In today’s text, we see Jesus giving His twelve disciples the same power of healing that He had; in other words, the authority to heal. Therefore, the same power that Jesus had to heal the sick, restore blind eyes, and raise the dead, is the exact same power that we as Christians have to deal with and conquer everyday obstacles in our lives.
