Endurance for the Race

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Empowered

“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)

It is so wonderful to know that Christ understands our difficulties in life. He walked in human flesh, enduring trials and suffering, just as we do. He is our example of how we are empowered to endure the pains of life. When we imagine Jesus in excruciating pain, we instantly think of times we have experienced pain, as a way to identify with Him. At the same time, the very life of Christ was about God experiencing human pain so He could be touched by the feeling of our infirmities. God wanted to identify with us. As Jesus died on the cross, the very joy that was set before Christ was knowing that His act of dying on the cross settled the issue of atonement and grace over our lives. Through Christ, we have an advocate and a promise that we can endure!
