Fear Not the Past

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Discipleship

“Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:27 (ESV)

Another reason why people may be hesitant to become a disciple of Christ is the fear of their past being the topic of conversations. We all have a past, but when we take that important role as a disciple, some people may question our actions by bringing up our pasts. These people won’t always be our enemies. Our friends and family members may be the very people to speak about our past indiscretions. Forgive them, pray for them, and continue to glorify Christ with genuine service. Remember that they talked about Jesus, so we are not above being talked about. Man is not the judge of us. God knows everything that we have done. Even when we thought we were ducking and dodging, He saw our every move. He loves us for who we are, and that’s the only thing that truly matters.
