Guided by the Light of Truth
“Since by your obedience to the Truth through the [Holy] Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, [see that you] love one another fervently from a pure heart.” 1 Peter 1:22 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)
Obedience is not something that the flesh desires at all; therefore, to be obedient, requires a sacrifice. For us to willingly cry out to God, “take everything, I don’t want it, I don’t need it, I just want you God”; God hears that heartfelt prayer. The Word says, the righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles, Psalm 34:17 (New International Version). God is constantly reminding us that if we chose to accept Him choosing us for righteous sake and we do as He leads us to, He will then purify our hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren. We then can be guided to help others by way of having empathy, compassion and kindness for others. How great would it be to see nonbelievers be more receptive of God as a result of our obedience and our visible witness? If we are not being guided by the light of truth, the Holy Spirit cannot be witnessed in the Earth. It’s up to us to allow the Holy Spirit to enable us to obey the truth.
