Love Thy Neighbor

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Community Service

"Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor." James 3:17-18 (MSG)

We have often heard people say, “To get respect, you must give respect.” This is true, but when living holy, there may be many times that we will encounter people who may not give us respect. If this happens, we must always please God by exhibiting His patience and love. We cannot be mean or disrespectful to people even though they are this way to us. We need to demonstrate to them that Christians are consistent with their faith and the teachings of the Bible! In order to strengthen our community and drive out Satan, we must get along with our neighbors and forgive them even when we feel they do not deserve it. It is not our job to judge them. We are to treat everyone with respect and love, and this love will resonate through our communities, and we will begin to see a positive change!
