Moses' father-in-law said to him, "The thing that you are doing is not good. You will surely wear out, both yourself and these people who are with you, for the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone.” Exodus 18:17-18 (NASB)

Most people agree that carrying a heavy load becomes more bearable when someone else is sharing part of the load. Doing things solo is not always the best solution, and in His Word, God tells us we should partner up to work with at least one other person. Oftentimes, trying to do things solo will burden us unnecessarily and prevent us from accomplishing the goals God has set for us. It’s important to “work smart” and not wear ourselves out in order to accomplish goals we set. When we work smart, we set a positive example for others and ourselves as we work towards God’s plans for our life. Carrying heavy burdens is exhausting and threatens both our mental and physical health unnecessarily. God wants us to do as Moses did when he delegated some of the judging to others that he trusted. God wants us to identify people around us who are trustworthy so that we don’t have to do it alone.
