Something in Common

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Caring for Others

“To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22

In today’s scripture, Paul explains the concept of relating to other people. He states, I am made all things to all men that I might by all means save some. One way to witness is to begin a conversation using commonalities. When you’re speaking with your colleagues, you can use work as a platform to begin a conversation. When you’re walking through your neighborhood, you can use your subdivision as a commonality. When you’re at a school event, you can talk about your kids as commonalities. Then you can share a piece of your testimony as it relates to that commonality. For example, “I didn’t think I could make it working all of the overtime last month but God changed my perspective and I pushed through.” When people can see what God is doing in our lives - we work at the same job or live in the same neighborhood - we show them that God is real and is working in the midst.
