The Parenting Manual

Written by KCC Devotion Team  |  Found in: Family

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NKJV)

In order to effectively teach our children, we must be Godly examples for them as worshipers and servants and demonstrate this love to others. It is hard to teach our children about a love with which we have no experience. We must love God above everyone and everything else as this serves as a solid foundation for successful parenting as well as our other relationships. We must make God’s Word our standard operating manual for all parenting issues and refer to the Bible and its spiritual principles as the main source for questions and concerns about child-rearing. There are so many ways for us as parents to demonstrate Biblical principles in the lives of our children and others, and the Word itself remains constant as a guide for us. The Bible is clear on how to raise children and even serves as our guide for how to apply discipline in their lives.
